Sticks on Chains is a project that finds sacred sticks in various natural areas and turn them into medicine pieces as each stick has a story and a medicine to offer the person wearing the piece. The project emerged out of my need to understand consumerism and the commodification of sacred items of the natural world. Wearable Nature-Bling gives anyone the opportunity to take the history of a place with them wherever they go and to see what medicine nature has to offer them. Natural wood found in different natural settings juxtaposed with highly processed metal gives us the opportunity to be fashionable consumers while also being close to nature.
